Lorna Label car Birthday Card...

Hi folks we are in the middle of a house move which is taking FOREVER. I'm like a kid at Christmas, the estate agent and the solicitors must have memorised my phone number on their caller ID. Well, maybe not forever but you get the picture. I'd packed all my craft stuff away as we had requested that the move happen in the summer holidays and to cut a long story short it's just not going to happen as quickly as we'd like. As it's my hubby's birthday soon I had to unpack some of my craft stuff, right?
And as I unpacked I rediscovered forgotten about stamps like this one by Creative expressions.

I coloured the rubber stamped image using my letraset promarkers and I'm particularly please with the shading. If you have seen my very first attempts at it you will know how far I've come.

I used a flagpole from Karen Burniston's lots of pops die set and turned it upside downtown to create a traffic light using some little gems that catch the light beautifully.

I triple layered the Happy birthday to give it a more 3D effect.

Happy birthday Grandad...

It was my dad's birthday yesterday so I made him a card using Karen Burniston's Katie label pivot die. This is also going to be my card for the crazy4challenges blog where I am the guest designer this month. This weeks challenge is to incorporate a 3D element to the card.

I used some washi tape I bought from HobbyCraft to jazz the card up a little and added some great photos of our family and one of my parents caravan pitched somewhere in the sunny Netherlands. (Utrecht I think?)
The Katie stitch frame die that came with the Katie accordion die sits perfectly within the Katie pivot die.
Happy birthday Dad:)

Is it Christmas yet...

I have the honour of being the guest designer on crazy4challenges this month. The first challenge was to make a card with bunting (banners) incorporated.

and as there are only 140 sleeps to Christmas I decided to make a Christmas card. This is the new Karen Burniston's evergreen pivot die that is available now from the Elizabeth craft designs website. You can find it by clicking on the links below.

I used red and white spotty washi tape for the bunting draped over the trees. The happy Christmas is also washi tape. I coloured the cute animals and snowman stamp with my promarkers and added some stickles glitter glue to the snowballs and snowball splat for a more 3D effect.

I used Karen Burnistons new  outdoor edges die to create the undulating snow in the background...perfect :)

I hope you like it and look forward to next weeks challenge.

Apricot Rum and Damson Vodka preserve...

My friend gave me a huge bag of apricots and I decided as we weren't going to be able to consume them before they went off that I would make some Apricot Rum preserve. I have a lot of Kilner jars that are the perfect container for storing the fruit once it's been processed but old Jam jars are just as good.

I needed to do something with the masses of damsons I was able to harvest from my tree this year so my friend suggested I make Damson Vodka.

I used Karen Burniston's Katie labels and just punched a hole for the string then tied the label to the jar.

To make the preserves you will need

4lbs of fruit

2lbs of sugar

1 litre of vodka/gin - cheap is fine

I halved and stoned the fruit before putting it in a large cooking pot with the alcohol, I then simmered it for 10 minutes before transferring it heat sterilised Kilner jars.

The damson vodka is perfect served with lemonade and ice. Hic...

DIY Promarker storage box...

For the past year or so I've been storing my set of promarkers, grouped in to colour combinations and held together with elastic bands in a draw at my crafting station. But I like neat and orderly and easy to find so while trawling through Pinterest I found the perfect DIY solution using an egg crate lighting grid and a plastic storage box with a lid.

Now if you are from the USA you probably know what an egg crate lighting grid is but I'm from the UK and didn't have the foggiest idea! So more trawling and googling later I found an alternative grid in the UK it's a pond filter grid and can be found on eBay for about £7.50 including delivery. I also found a 9L really use box box that would hold all my promarkers with spare slots to accommodate future purchases.
I used my dremel versa-tip heat tool while has 6 different attachments, one of which was the perfect size to slice the plastic grid to cut it down to fit.
I then used tie wraps to secure the top grid in place through the holes I'd made using my versa-tip tool.

I spent a peaceful afternoon in the sun colouring mini sticky dots and sticking them to the relevant promarker pen.
